the tottery house

The tottery house, the flat on the fifteenth floor.
Its wobbly contractions as it moves in the wind.
A one room apartment without a future.
Starting a family in this place invites disaster.

I'm looking for exits, opening the windows - just a little bit of space.
There are pots with flowers planted like daggers in the heart.
I let ladybirds in, as I let in small tomatoes, cut skillfully in half.

He’s rolled down from the bed to the floor. He's still sleeping.
He didn't notice anything. He lies with his head on the balcony.
There's very little space indeed.

I'm still looking for extensions, the possibility to create this
makeshift family.

Bathroom - I think, and I'm going there. You would be surprised at the
length of this tiled space.

The gleaming mirror’s reflections, bland and blue squares die in the distance.
An endless exposition of tiles – no armature, no terracotta - nothing for now.
At last the end. Malicious interior architects of cheap, modern spaces.

Next door is the public toilet, heavily neglected.
Fingernail-peeled doors, carrion on the floor and the exit to Ochota
Train Station.
There, I will make a garden, and I will set the table for guests in the summer.

Dom chwiejny.
.
Dom chwiejny. Mieszkanie na piętnastym.
Czuć jak konstrukcja poruszana jest wiatrem.
Kawalerka bez przyszłości. Założenie rodziny w takim miejscu grozi katastrofą.

Szukam wyjścia.Odsłaniam okna, trochę przestrzeni z kwiatami wetkniętymi w doniczki jak sztylety w serca.
Wpuszczam tam biedronki i inne wprawnie ucięte połówki pomidorów.

Z łóżka na ziemię stoczył się on. Nadal śpi. Nic nie zauważył. Leży z glową na balkonie. Naprawdę jest tu mało miejsca.

Szukam dalej poszerzenia, możliwości utworzenia tej jednak rodziny.

Łazienka- myślę i idę tam. Możnaby się zdziwić jak długa jest ta wykafelkowana przetrzeń. Na glanc wylustrzone mdłe, błękitne kwadraty giną w oddali. Ekspozycja kafelek bez końca. Bez armatury. Bez nawet terakoty. Narazie nic. Wreszcie koniec. Złośliwi architekci wnętrz nowoczesnych i tanich.

Dalej już tylko toaleta publiczna, mocno zresztą zaniedbana. Okorowane paznokciami drzwi. Padlina na ziemi i wyjście na Dworzec Ochota. Tam zrobię ogródek i postawię stolik dla gości na lato.

from  03.09.2010 until 06.10.2010, park Dreszera, Warsaw

my exhibition: Powstanki.1944 - Scenes from the lives of women in the Warsaw Uprising

WOMAN IN THE WARSAW UPRISING is about a life that had a very fragile structure. Life that had to go on despite being more fleeting than ever. I wanted to capture and freeze the passing moments of their lives. Where each moment could well be their last.

project includes 13 billboards (120/90cm each)

LAST MONDAY

LAST MONDAY -mural painting (visual memory)

LAST MONDAY is about to freeze the passing moment of an average day. I am interested in everyday moments that will never be repeated and will most likely be lost to memory becouse of their lack of great meaning. In LAST MONDAY I brought such a moment back to people and then made it disappear again. The practical part of the project consisted of photographical documentation of people passing by the wall of gallery one Monday before the exhibition this piece was part of. Then I transformed the pictures into mural that was painted and exhibited on the same wall a week after I had taken pictures. The day after I painted wall white again.
